Panorama Privacy Policy
Last updated 29 October 2026
This Privacy Policy (the “Policy”) explains how information is handled in connection with the Panorama application for iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple TV (the “App”), which is developed and provided by Alper Kaplan (“we”, “us” or “our”). Panorama is private by design. Your 360° photos and videos stay on your devices and in your own iCloud account, we operate no servers that receive or store them, and we cannot see them. The App contains no advertising, no analytics and no tracking. The only time anyone else sees your photos and videos is when you choose to share an album, as described in Section 8. This Policy should be read together with our Terms of Service.
1. Definitions
1.1 “App” or “Panorama” means the Panorama application, together with its updates, content and documentation.
1.2 “We”, “us” and “our” mean Alper Kaplan, the developer and provider of the App.
1.3 “You” and “your” mean the person who downloads, installs or uses the App.
1.4 “Personal Data” means information relating to an identified or identifiable natural person.
1.5 “Device” means the Apple device (iPhone, iPad, Mac or Apple TV) on which you install and run the App.
1.6 “Apple Services” means Apple-operated services on which the App relies, including the App Store and iCloud.
1.7 “Media” means the 360° photos and videos you import into the App, together with the albums and other information you create in it.
2. Our approach to privacy
The App has no account and no sign-in of its own. We do not operate back-end servers that receive or store your Media, and we cannot see the photos, videos and albums you keep in the App. The App contains no third-party software development kits for advertising, analytics, crash reporting or tracking. Any processing of your Media takes place on your Device or within Apple Services under your own Apple Account. The only information that leaves your Device is the Media synchronised to your own iCloud (Section 5), the albums you choose to share (Section 8) and your purchases, which are handled by Apple (Section 7). None of that information goes to a server operated by us.
3. Information we do not collect
We do not require an account, and we do not collect or have access to your Media. In particular, we do not:
3.1 require you to create an account or provide your name, email address or telephone number;
3.2 receive, store or have access to your photos, videos or albums on any server operated by us;
3.3 show advertising, use analytics, or track you across apps and websites owned by other companies, and the App does not use your device’s advertising identifier; or
3.4 sell, rent or share your Personal Data.
4. Information stored on your Device
When you import a photo or video, the App keeps a copy of the original file in its private storage on your Device, together with the details it needs to show it, such as its dimensions, its length and the date it was taken. Originals are kept at full resolution, including any information your camera embedded in the file, such as the capture date and, if your camera recorded it, the location where it was taken. The App does not read or use that location. Your preferences and a short record of recent iCloud activity, which helps you troubleshoot syncing, are also stored on your Device. None of this is transmitted to us. If you choose to optimise storage, the App may remove full-size originals from a Device and download them again from your iCloud when you open them.
5. iCloud synchronisation
If you are signed in to iCloud, your Media and albums are synchronised across your own iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple TV through Apple’s CloudKit private database. That copy resides in your personal iCloud account, is tied to your Apple Account, uses your iCloud storage, and is processed by Apple under Apple’s Privacy Policy. We have no access to it. On Apple TV, the App plays your Media directly from your iCloud. To keep your devices up to date, iCloud may send the App silent background notifications; these carry no Media and are not shown to you. If iCloud is unavailable, or you turn iCloud off for the App, syncing and sharing stop and your Media remains only on the Device where it is stored.
6. Device permissions
The App may ask your permission to use certain Device features. You may grant or decline these, and change them later in your Device settings.
6.1 Photos. You choose photos and videos to import with Apple’s system photo picker. The App receives only the items you pick and does not have access to the rest of your Photos library. If you ask the App to save an item to your Photos library, it asks for permission to add to your library only, which does not let it read your library.
6.2 Files. Files you import through the Files app, or export from the App, are accessed only when you choose them.
6.3 Motion. If granted, the gyroscope is used only on your Device so that you can look around a 360° photo or video by moving it. Motion data is not stored or transmitted.
7. Purchases and subscriptions
Purchases and subscriptions are sold and processed by Apple through the App Store. Apple handles your payment; we do not receive or store your payment details. To make paid features available on your devices, the App verifies your entitlement through Apple’s StoreKit, which does not disclose your identity to us, and remembers the result on your Device. The App may also ask Apple to show its standard prompt inviting you to rate the App; any rating or review you give is handled by Apple.
8. Shared albums
8.1 Sharing is your choice. An album is private until you choose to share it. Sharing uses Apple’s iCloud sharing, and the shared album stays in your iCloud account and uses your iCloud storage.
8.2 The link is the invitation. When you share an album, iCloud creates a link. Anyone who has that link and is signed in with an Apple Account can open the album and view its photos and videos, including the original files and any information embedded in them, such as the capture date or location. Shared albums are view-only: people you share with cannot change or delete your Media, but they can save copies of items to their own library. Please share the link only with people you trust, as it can be forwarded.
8.3 What participants see. People who join a shared album can see the album’s name and contents, and iCloud may show the names or Apple Account details of the album’s owner and participants. Apple decides what participant information iCloud shows.
8.4 Stopping and leaving. You can stop sharing an album at any time, after which people lose access to it; copies they have already saved remain theirs. Albums that others share with you are stored in their iCloud account, and you can leave them at any time.
8.5 Our access. We never receive, see or store shared albums, their contents or the people they are shared with.
9. Demo mode
Before you subscribe, the App can show a demo library of sample 360° videos and fictional albums. The demo runs entirely on your Device: it does not connect to iCloud, it does not use your own photos and videos, and changes you make in it are not saved. The sample videos are included in the App under licence from their creators, who are credited in the App.
10. Data retention
We retain no Personal Data about you on our own systems. Your Media persists on your Device and in your iCloud until you choose to delete it. Deleting an item in the App removes it from your Device and, through syncing, from your iCloud and your other devices.
11. Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights in respect of Personal Data, such as the rights to access, correct, delete, port, or restrict or object to processing. Because we do not hold your Personal Data on our own systems, you exercise these rights over your Media directly by managing or deleting it in the App, on your Device and in iCloud (Settings › your Apple Account › iCloud). You control sharing in the App, where you can stop sharing an album or leave one shared with you. You may contact us at any time with questions, and we will respond as required by applicable law.
12. United States state privacy rights
For the purposes of the California Consumer Privacy Act (as amended) and comparable United States state privacy laws, we do not “sell” your personal information and do not “share” it for cross-context behavioural advertising. Because we do not collect Personal Data, we hold no such information to disclose, correct or delete on our side.
13. Your rights in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland (GDPR)
Because the App does not collect or process your Media on our servers, we do not act as a data controller of that Media. Personal data associated with iCloud, iCloud sharing and the App Store is processed by Apple as an independent controller under Apple’s Privacy Policy, and when you share an album, the people you share it with receive your Media as you choose. We keep no Personal Data on our own systems and make no automated decisions about you. Subject to applicable law, you may access, correct, delete or receive a copy of your Personal Data, and object to or restrict its processing. Because we do not hold your Media, most of these rights are exercised in the App, on your Device or with Apple; you can also contact us through our support page. You have the right to lodge a complaint with your data protection supervisory authority (in the United Kingdom, the Information Commissioner’s Office; in Switzerland, the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner; in the EEA, your national authority).
14. Children’s privacy
The App is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect Personal Data from children. If you believe a child has provided Personal Data to us, please contact us.
15. Security
Your Media is protected by your Device’s built-in security and, in iCloud, by Apple’s platform security. No method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
16. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time, including when features of the App are added, changed or withdrawn. The date at the top indicates when it was last revised, and material changes will be reflected on this page. Your continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Policy.
17. Contact
If you have any questions about this Policy, please contact us through our support page.
