Secure Zip & Unzip Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy (the “Policy”) explains how information is handled in connection with the Secure Zip & Unzip application (the “App”), which is developed and provided by Alper Kaplan (“we”, “us” or “our”). Secure Zip & Unzip runs entirely on your iPhone, iPad or Mac. It contains no networking code and never connects to the internet, we operate no servers that receive or store your files, and we cannot see, receive or access the files, folders or ZIP archives you compress, encrypt, extract or open. The password you set is created on your device, is never transmitted to us, and cannot be recovered by us. This Policy should be read together with our Terms of Service.
1. Definitions
1.1 “App” or “Secure Zip & Unzip” means the Secure Zip & Unzip application, together with its updates, content and documentation.
1.2 “We”, “us” and “our” mean Alper Kaplan, the developer and provider of the App.
1.3 “You” and “your” mean the person who downloads, installs or uses the App.
1.4 “Personal Data” means information relating to an identified or identifiable natural person.
1.5 “Device” means the iPhone, iPad or Mac on which you install and run the App.
1.6 “Apple Services” means Apple-operated services on which the App relies, such as the App Store.
1.7 “Files” means the files, folders and ZIP archives you compress, encrypt, extract or open in the App.
2. Our approach to privacy
The App has no account and no sign-in. It contains no networking code and never connects to the internet. We operate no back-end servers, and we cannot see, receive or store your Files or your password. All compression, encryption, decryption and extraction take place entirely on your Device, whether that is an iPhone, an iPad or a Mac. Nothing you do in the App leaves your Device to reach us.
3. Information we do not collect
We do not require an account, and we do not collect or have access to your Files or your password. In particular, we do not:
3.1 require you to create an account or provide your name, email address or telephone number;
3.2 receive, store or have access to your Files, folders, ZIP archives or passwords on any server operated by us;
3.3 include any advertising, analytics, attribution or tracking software in the App;
3.4 use Apple’s App Tracking Transparency, because the App performs no tracking; or
3.5 sell, rent or share your Personal Data.
4. Files stored on your Device
The Files you work with, and the archives the App creates, are stored on your Device or in the location you choose, such as a folder in the Files app on iPhone and iPad, or a folder you select in Finder on Mac. You control these Files at all times, and they are not transmitted to us. If you choose to save an archive to a location that Apple synchronises with iCloud Drive, for example your iCloud Documents folder, that copy is handled by Apple under Apple’s Privacy Policy; the App itself performs no iCloud synchronisation of your Files.
5. Device permissions
The App works with the Files you select and asks for access only when needed. You may grant or decline these, and change them later in your Device settings.
5.1 Files and folders. On iPhone and iPad you choose files through the system document picker; on Mac you select files in Finder, through the right-click menu, or through the standard Open and Save panels. The App accesses only the items you choose, and only to compress, encrypt, extract or open them.
5.2 Photos (iPhone and iPad). If you import photos or videos to compress, the App accesses only the specific items you select through the system photo picker. It does not otherwise read your photo library, and nothing is transmitted to us.
6. Your password and encryption
The App protects your archives with AES-256 encryption, the WinZip AES standard. The password you set is used on your Device to encrypt or decrypt an archive and is never sent to us or to anyone else. We do not store, transmit or have any way to recover your password. If you lose or forget the password to an encrypted archive, the archive cannot be decrypted by us or by Apple. You are responsible for choosing a strong password and keeping it safe.
7. No analytics, advertising or tracking
The App contains no advertising, no analytics or attribution software, and no tracking of any kind. It makes no network requests and shares no data with any third party for advertising or measurement. Because there is nothing to track, the App does not present an App Tracking Transparency prompt.
8. Data retention
We retain no Personal Data about you on our own systems, because we never receive any. Your Files persist on your Device, and in any location you save them to, until you choose to delete them.
9. Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights in respect of Personal Data, such as the rights to access, correct, delete, port, or restrict or object to processing. Because we do not collect or hold your Personal Data, Files or password on our own systems, you exercise control directly on your Device by managing or deleting your Files. You may contact us at any time with questions, and we will respond as required by applicable law.
10. United States state privacy rights
For the purposes of the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended, and comparable United States state privacy laws, we do not “sell” your personal information and we do not “share” it for cross-context behavioural advertising. Because we do not collect Personal Data, we hold no such information to disclose, correct or delete on our side.
11. Your rights in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland (GDPR)
Because the App does not collect or process your Files or password on our servers, and makes no network connections, we do not act as a data controller of your content. Personal data associated with the App Store is processed by Apple as an independent controller under Apple’s Privacy Policy. We (Alper Kaplan, the independent developer of the App, contactable through our support page) hold no personal data about you, and we carry out no advertising measurement and no automated decision-making. Subject to applicable law, you may exercise your data-protection rights over content on your Device directly, and with Apple for any data held by Apple. You have the right to lodge a complaint with your data protection supervisory authority: in the United Kingdom, the Information Commissioner’s Office; in Switzerland, the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner; in the EEA, your national authority.
12. Children’s privacy
The App is not directed to children under 13, or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction, and we do not knowingly collect Personal Data from children. Because the App collects no Personal Data at all, none is collected from children either.
13. Security
Your archives can be protected with AES-256 encryption, and your Files are also protected by your Device’s built-in security. Because the App stores everything on your Device and makes no network connections, your content is never exposed in transit to us. No method of storage is completely secure, and you are responsible for choosing a strong password and keeping it safe.
14. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. The date at the top indicates when it was last revised, and material changes will be reflected on this page. Your continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Policy.
